036

Date: July 25, 2009
Tattoo: Custom design, cute notes singing, one smiling

Was FUN. I want to color more. Filling in with color completely, rather than leave any skin tone, makes it SO much better.

Date: July 8th, 2009

Was taken just a week ago. 2 weeks after the date above (the day I actually did it). Will retake picture once healed and I go back over some spots to darken. Hopefully I'll have my replacement camera by then.

Unfortunately, will always be the tattoo that marked the day I got robbed of so much artwork. Que sera sera. Moving on....

015 | finished

Date: 6/27/09
Tattoo: $100 US bills coming out from a slit in his arm (custom drawn based on a design from his friend)
Needle: 9m
Wip

I believe I fixed the shading up better. But again, will see for sure when it heals.

Date: 6/24/09 (line work) 6/25/09 (shade)
Tattoo: Custom evil and sad clown masks.

I did the line work the day before. When he came in the next day, it looked weird like I went too deep. But I swear I only went as deep as I usually go, which isn't deep at all. Guess I'll see when it heals. And I swear they appeared to have more depth in person after I finished. Again, guess I'll see when it heals.

011-012| first color

012
needle: 5RL | 13M

location: right arm
tattoo: knife and ribbon through skull (my design, based off very simple patch brought in by client)

011
needle: 3RL | 5RL | 7M

location: along right arm
tattoo: Gayle, Katherine | True Royalty | 2 Roses (my design)

Date: June 3, 2009

Reflection:
011 | Experimented with shading the leaves in. I look forward to seeing it healed; then I'll really see if it worked or not. Messed up the Katherine, hope to go back at later to fix.
012 | My first time with color, and I experimented successfully I think. I mixed the red with just a touch of light grey wash for the outline. But, I didn't use his skin as the highlights till I went up from the last ribbon (which is the last one is the only fully colored one. I like how the skin created the highlights, and how the mixed read provided a nice outline for the ribbon.
Overall | Still getting accustomed to doing line work and shading.

009

Date: May 29, 2009

Tattoo: Hawk, designed by me

Needles: 5RL | 13M

I think it could've been better. But it gave me another chance to familiarize myself with shading. And with tattoo placement, weird angles...

I learned that the neck/collar bone area doesn't take too well to ink. Had to go over the lines.

Date: May 28, 2009

Tattoo: Client wanted Jack Skeleton (nightmare before christmas). But I convinced him to do a custom piece influenced by Jack and the client. He liked it, so...

Needles: 3L | 5L | 7M

Self Review: I think I messed up the line work in a few places. But I'm growing accustomed to a technique with shading I like: Treat it like a brush, and make sure the power supply is set high.
